All kidding aside, I think the book is an entertaining read. I hope you will check it out. FYI, there should be a book signing or two in the coming weeks. Stay tuned! And for all the P1's who buy the book, I plan to have one book signing at my townhouse in Rockville. Thanks again.
Thank you to everybody who endorsed my book including Governor Ehrlich, Mike Wise, Dan Steinberg, Rick Snider, Luke Thomas, Jackie Kallan, Eric Bickel, Chris Kinard and John Auville. Here is the description of the book on the back cover of the Paperback version.
Boxers do what the vast majority of us will never do: they stand toe-to-toe and try to inflict as much punishment upon each other as possible. In Chasing Rocky, J.P. Flaim, a suburban father of two and cohost of The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, DC, became a part of that small percentage of people drawn to become a boxer. What started as a crazy idea from the arena seats of a professional boxing match transforms into a personal challenge that the deejay cannot ignore.
This memoir follows the journey of this average Joe who chases his dream and discovers there's more to boxing than what can be seen inside the ropes. Chasing Rocky narrates Flaim's foray into the boxing world, where he encounters a dubious boxing promoter who sees only dollar signs, a no-nonsense trainer who tests his resolve, an aspiring pro who longs for a title shot, and an icon who has inspired millions.
Chasing Rocky presents an inside look at the brutal training boxers endure. From facing fears to dealing with the pain of getting punched, Flaim tackles the sacrifices boxers make and explores the promotional aspects — from choosing the perfect heel to creating a grand ring entrance. He shows what happens when the bell sounds and a radio promotion idea becomes a boxing reality.
I'll will be getting one. Looking forward to it . You can buy it on the site JP mentioned above and you can scroll down and offer a review. We should fill it with junkies schtick. If your too lazy to scroll back up here's the link. http://bit.ly/sbnQO7

Brilliant idea. Would save me from having to cross the Potomac……. the only problem I see is that JP would have to go out of his way to mail the book back; that would probably put him on monkey tilt!! He may do it for you all out of the DMV area.
I would definitely sign a book for anybody who mails one to me. Just hook me with the shipping cost so I don't cut into my $2 book profits! Haha! Sincerely I want to thank anybody for their interest in the book. I hope you enjoy it. I know some of the P1's like Phil, Wupac, Rom and others have read chapters before. Feel free to comment here on your impressions.

I would be glad to enclose a pre-paid form of return shipping. Where should it be mailed to? I'm not sure I would want to mail it to the studio after how that one donk that sent you guys the childrens books was treated. That was butt-funny, but I don't want my book to get misplaced, or "stolen" like the vodka.
Once you get the book and you want me to sign it we can figure it out. The best bet might be to just come to one of the book signings which hopefully will be set up soon. I may even host one at my townhouse in Rockville. Otherwise mailing it to the station is probably your best bet. Thanks. Please spread the word for me.

Making it to your place sounds like a great time, but I'm 600+ miles from you. I'm feeling a little like Lurch on the Lanham commute. It has been shipped out to me. I'm sorry I didn't get a hard back, JP. I was in a hurry when ordering, and pushed on the first thing I saw, but I am ready to start reading when it arrives.

OfflineJust got copy on Amazon. JP, can you autograph it by dipping your big Latin thingy in red paint and giving the inside cover a mushroom tattoo? I choose to be different in all walks of life.

I'll have what he's having.
I just want to thank everybody who's bought "Chasing Rocky" already. I never sought out to write a book until my friend Tom Doyle challenged me. Then it took me way longer to finish it as I quit working on it when my father passed. Then when I did finish it three years ago I lost motivation to publish it as I began to go through a divorce. Anyway, I'm honored that I have sold one book. That said, keep spreading the word for me. "Chasing Rocky" is now available on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, Authorhouse.com and for Kindle, Nook, Kobo, etc.
Thanks again and stay tuned for book signing info.

OfflineLOL…now you've sold two, JP! I bought the ebook today. I'd have gone hardcopy but I've chosen to adopt your minimalist philosophy. Of course, having to downsize from a three-bedroom house to a one-bedroom apartment might have a little to do with that…but that's a whole other story….
I won't get to start reading it as I'm driving from DC back to Houston over the next few days…which brings me to my next point. How far away is the unabridged audiobook? Preferably, as read by Matt Valdez…

I don't check these forums too often anymore. Sorry. I don't know when we'll get to an audio book with Valdez, BTH, LTC and others. Thanks for snagging a copy of the book in whatever format you choose. You can now get it for Ipad via IBooks. Anyway, let me know what you think. JP
I am about three quarters of the way through your book JP. I am enjoying it thoroughly. Would you be willing to share with us any sales numbers? I have found the history and background of the Junkies to be fascinating. I moved overseas in 2001 and returned in 2005. I was giddy reading about the background of the station swaps. Any thoughts of a collaboration on a "definitive history of the Junkies…..up to this point"? Thanks and best of luck to you.
