OfflineHOLY SHIT! Did this become an instant HOFer or what? Awkwardness at the highest degree. EB ripped into JP with a vengeance! I felt bad for JP because he admitted fault with basically no arguement, but EB wouldn't let it go

OfflineI thought the whole thing sounded 'put on' myself. It's like they're taking a page out of Howard's book, when you don't have a good 'A' topic, then rip into someone in the studio.
I mean really, JP rolled over and played dead for the most part. I can't help but feel there was a 'wink and a nod' passing between JP and EB.

U couldnt be more wrong, was definitely not "put on" as u suggested. I can understand the sentiment, but believe me the blow-up in this instance was brewing for awhile and very real.

OfflineIt's a lock it was real. JP clearly was upset and embarrassed about being late. It should have been handled during a break, but oh well…
One funny thing EB said was "If we weren't here to cover for your ass you would be fired!!" When actually if the other three weren't there then they would be late also, and every Junk would be buying Valdez and Bret breakfast.

Might be a stupid question but are you going to be at JP's little get together?

OfflineAm I the only one "alarmed" that JP has his alarm set for 4:41? That's way to late, especially for someone that has a problem getting there on time. He needs to have it set for 4:15 and if he doesn't want to hang out before the show just wait in his car but that last minute shit every day would put me on major tilt.

Part of me agrees with you. I was sitting there wondering to myself how long would JP pout & not say anything…w/e the topic…perhaps until the end of the show?? Yet, by the end of the next break, everybody seemed to be "over it." Hmmnnn….
OTOH…it certainly sounded like awkwardness taken to a whole new level in the moment. Guys putting other things ahead of the show – and, ironically, manners – have long been EB's go-to rant moves. He tore into Lurch for tuning out & not participating when they don't do things of interest to Lurch.
For once…I actually found myself on the EB side of a rant. Perhaps because I can relate. My former business partner is one of the most brilliant people I know…certainly w/in our industry. He is also what I like to call a chronic abuser of other people's time. After being embarrassed by his lateness in front of a prospective client for the umpteenth time, I tore into him over drinks afterward in the exact same way.
The whole thing was a bit on a eerie flashback for me…

OfflineHow was he trying to handle it like a man? By saying lateness is his Achilles heel? There was no personal growth, last time it was brought up on the air he talked about needing to change his behavior. How did that work out? He's still strolling in at the last minute, still waking up at the last possible moment and not giving himself any cushion.
Hell EB drove to Fairfax last week and still made it to Lanham in time for the start of the show. EB was 100% right. Why should they have to cover for JP? The ONLY reason he does it is because he knows the other 3 will be there to start the show on time.
Personal growth my ass…

EB was out of line…and scary. Dude needs some help. JP being late could get annoying for the rest of the Junks, but for once he was trying to handle his mistake like a man…gotta give him credit for a little personal growth!
To the extent the rant was out of line & scary (& I agree with you that part of it sounded that way)…that is the part I think might have been schtick. Wouldn't surprise me if EB gave a slight smile or wink to somebody when he was screaming about not being a good enough actor to fake this kinda rage. I kinda think he thinks he is.
That being said, I'm with Timber on this one. While it might be admirable to take your beating like a man when you're wrong the first coupla times, there's nothing admirable about appearing to take your beating like a man for the umpteenth time over the same damn thing. All that says is you've grown immune to it. There's certainly NO personal growth going on UNTIL the problem behavior actually CHANGES.
If JP manages to go a year w/o being late again…THEN I'll give him all kinds of props for personal growth.

I might understand the JP hate on this subject but not in general. I think JP and EB carry most the weight of keeping the show going. Cakes is the zingcpert and Lurch is….well Lurch who is butt funny.
I think you might be onto something there. While all the guys are vital to the total package, I agree with you that JP & EB are the two who do the most in driving the direction of the show. Maybe that's why it bothers EB the most when JP's late. I thought it was hysterical that he makes JP text him when he leaves on the appearances & 'Skins stuff they do together.

I know that they all are theoretically equals, but the way EB screams and carries on it makes me think that he fancies himself THE big swinging dick of the four.
