I'm with you on this one, JP. I thought it was dickish of Cakes to say that. You guys have been boys forever, and that's is not something you say to a friend/co-worker/business partner like you guys are. I guess what you can take from that statement is that your listeners are more interested in you than Cakes appears to be. You HAVE been pimping the hell out of the book. If I wrote a book, I would be doing the same thing. I was pissed off listening to that segment. The fact that Cakes said what he said made me wonder if Cakes showed his true colors today.

I was pretty upset with Cakes as well. But the more I think about it, maybe it was all shtick. Having said that though, as I posted earlier, if JP's book is selling well (I bought mine) this is a fucking opening door for the four of them to collaborate on a book together. They do not even have to write it, just make themselves available to an author for extensive interviews and they will put it all together. The history and stories behind what made today's Junkies are f'ing fascinating and entertaining. I read JP's book and goddammit …… I want more!!

I don't think it was shtick. If it was I should stop listening because those are the kind of segments I like the most. It is a bit of shocker that there was an argument that EB was not involved in.

I hope it was schtick, but I believe the curtain was pulled back on that segment. However, I do think that Valdez's and Brett's background song bit was funny.

When "why can't we be friends" started playing in the back ground I cracked up. Valdez might not be able to speak but he is butt funny.

fight was definitely not shtick, and cakes comment was the exception to the rule…cakes true colors are as u would expect, a genuinely good guy. the comment was an outlier and unintended to be taken the way it was, cakes just not that smart to realize.

My opinion only: The ONLY Junkie that works at the show AND appreciates the fans is JP. The other three could care less especially EB. If you haven't purchased JPs book PLEASE DO. Even if you don't read it do it out of support. JP was the only Junkie to support this supposed official site because he cared about you and the other fans.
EB and Bret have for years tried everything in their power to start their own sites or social accounts to bring this place down. Very ironic that you would beat down on a place that has been here for the fans over for 10 years – what idiots would ever do that instead of exploiting it? Oh, guys that want to censor you. Got it.
Support JP. He is the real deal to the fans. Period.

Does no one else have a comment, response, or reply to this? Am I the only person blindsided here? I figured as much as Lurch being this way. Why would the three mentioned (4 with Bret) be that way? I am SHOCKED that Ram hasn't chimed in. He seems to be the ultimate Junkies apologist. That is NOT a dig at Ram, as I am a Ramaniac. He did actually chime in to correct some grammar issue, but did not refute anything Backdraft said.

As far as this board/site goes, JP is the only one. JP is the only Junk to promote it and he and Valdez are the only ones to post. I can see BD's perspective here.

I think I'm ultimately on JP's side of the fight…but I also think it was a case of two wrongs not making a right. The cost of a book seems a small price to pay to keep the peace in a long-standing professional & personal relationship. Cakes was a bit of a donk to reply as he did…even if he had no interest in buying…let alone reading…JP's book.
OTOH, I think it was kinda crass of JP to ask any of the guys if they've bought the book. They know it's out there. If they wanna read it…they will. I also thought it was a little disingenuous of JP to play the "best friend" card in the fight when he says, repeatedly, throughout the book that he considers EB to be his best friend amongst the guys.
Sorry to nitpick, JP! Just had to prove that I actually bought & read Chasing Rocky…
